Tell me about the outfit you are wearing – who are you cosplaying and how did you decide to pick this particular character ?
I am cosplaying InuYasha from InuYasha. It was one of the first anime that I ever saw and it is one of my favorites.
Tell me about the process of making your outfit – was it easier or tougher than you imagine it to be ? (feel free to write as much as you want)
My costume was handmade by my grandmother using real kimono and hakama patterns that we ordered. It took about 8 months to finish since it was the first time she had ever made a kimono and there are two of them. The hakama pant took the longest since it took a few times to get it right. My necklace, wig, and Tetsusaiga sword were premade, but we handmade my ears and sewed them into the wig.
Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con ? ^^
I get a lot of people, especially girls, running up squeeling “it’s little InuYasha” and hugging me, playing with my ears, picking me up, and asking my parents, “can I take him home with me?”
How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested ?
I have only been cosplaying about 2 years now. My parents took me to DragonCon and Anime Weekend Atlanta in 2007. I had a lot of fun and asked them if I could dress up the next time they took me. I started watching a lot of anime and I really liked it. I asked my grandmother if she would make me an InuYasha costume and I wore it to DragonCon in 2008 and met a group of cosplayers that let me join their group. I go to as many different conventions as I can with them and now have 4 more costumes that my grandmother has made for me.
What are the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why ?
The first con I ever went to was DragonCon 2007. I have also been to Atlanta SuperCon, Anime Weekend Atlanta, MomoCon, and ConNooga. My favorite con is Anime Weekend Atlanta since it is just anime and I really enjoy being with the other cosplayers.
What does cosplay mean to you ?
I get to dress up like some of my favorite anime characters, see my friends at all of the conventions, and meet lot of girls.
If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay ?
If I had the money and supplies to do any cosplay I would love to do Heero YuY in the Wing Gundam Zero Custom
