Tell me about the outfit you are wearing

I am cosplaying a Kuromi maid, from the company Sanrio. I chose to do this not only because it was adorable, but because she’s my favorite character. A total punk bad ass.

Tell me about the process of making your outfit

Compared to my other costumes, this one was a breeze. I enjoyed it because it was made out of a simple material, a.k.a. I didn’t have to break any needles or spill any blood to finish it. It went by quickly, and I didn’t really have to stress about it.

Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con?

Well, I guess there were a few. I was offered several jobs for different maid cafe’s across the US, when I was spotted in this outfit. That’s interesting, right?

How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested?

I started cosplaying in 2004, when a bunch of my friends decided to go to a local convention. I have always had a love for interesting outfits like runway fashion, and always went above and beyond for Halloween, so I jumped at the idea. My love for it has only grown since then.

What are the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why?

I have been to conventions from the west coast to the east coast, and I would have to say that Anime Expo, or Naka-kon are my favorite conventions thus far. Though I have a few new ones to hit up in 2010, so I might be changing that soon!

What does cosplay mean to you?

Cosplay for me, is an outlet of creative energy. It’s a hobby, and also a slight source of income in my situation. It keeps me from being completely bored, and has made me so many friends in life. I suppose that cosplay to me, is love.

If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay?

This question always gets me off guard. Many of my ‘dream’ cosplays, I have already completed. So I guess you could say I would re-make them flawlessly? There are so many video game characters I would love to cosplay though, and since I lack prop knowledge, I would probably delve into that
