Tell me about the outfit you are wearing – who are you cosplaying and how did you decide to pick this particular character ?
Well I am Cosplaying as Drizzt Daermon N’a’shezbaernon, or Drizzt Do’Urden for short. And I picked this character because he is by far my favorite book character and someone with whom having read his books over the last decade of my life or so I feel a somewhat kindred spirit in purpose and motive.
Tell me about the process of making your outfit – was it easier or tougher than you imagine it to be ?
Well, I would love to take credit for all of that leather working but I honestly didn’t do that I got it from Eladsleather.com now as far as the cloak is concerned I bought a forest green cloak from a Ren Fest and stabbed it up real good and slashed it with knives and ran it through the wash and just like that frayed battle damage. The makeup was a at least hour and a half ordeal in and of itself but thankfully I had a very trusty friend with me who was perfectly willing to paint me up no matter how fussy I got or how long it took. I still owe her for that.
Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con ? ^^
Actually ya, at my first showing of it at A-kon in Dallas I was waiting for the elevator on one of the higher floors when a African American gentleman approached me with a scowl on his face and given the amount of makeup on my face I was afraid that I was presenting a rather terrible and racist image. I was fully prepared to be berated either verbally or physically. He then opened his mouth and said the eight words that I could never have seen coming “that is the coolest shit I’ve ever seen”. I felt on top of the world after that. =^.^=
How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested ?
Well my best friend Chad and my high school group of friends got me involved since they had been going to cons for a while I decided to tag along and it wasn’t long before I had to get in on the cosplaying action
What are the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why ?
A-kon in 05 I believe, and so far Anime Fest has been my fav two years running
What does cosplay mean to you ?
Its a extension of my ability to take the ultimate vacation, a vacation from myself where if only for a short time I can be someone else for a while and just be free
If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay ?
That would have to be a complete Guts Berserker armor full metal cosplay
