Tell me about the outfit you are wearing – who are you cosplaying and how did you decide to pick this particular character ?
I am Jibril/Gabriel from Angel Sanctuary. It’s is based off of an artbook picture. I chose this costume because couple of my friends were doing an Angel Sanctuary group and I wanted to be her. I loved this costume because of how much freedom I had in designing it. The reference is only a bust shot, so I designed the rest of the dress myself.
Tell me about the process of making your outfit – was it easier or tougher than you imagine it to be ?
True to my nature, I ended up drafting the entire costume myself. I knew certain parts would be tricky, but in general it was no more difficult than any other cosplay I have made. The only thing I didn’t account for was how heavy it was going to be while I wore it.
How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested ?
Well, one of my friends told me about an Anime Convention nearby. I, not really knowing what one did at a con, thought that you HAD to cosplay to go. Of course, that seems silly to me now.
What was the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why ?
My first con was Animazement in Durham, NC. ALthough I only stayed for a day, it was really fun and a great experience for a first con. My favorite con so far was a small free one called Garasu no Shi Con up in Ohio. I was part of a group that had a performance there. It was so much fun to perform in front of an audience that came just to watch us perform.
What does cosplay mean to you ?
Cosplay is a way of expressing myself. It helps me come ou of my shell and experience new things. I set goals for myself and when I succeed I have a great sense of a ccomplishement. It is also a way for me to meet to people. I believe Cosplay is a way of life.
If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay ?
Musical Styled Sailor Galaxia, at the moment. Although, with me, that may change.
