Tell me about the outfit you are wearing – who are you cosplaying and how did you decide to pick this particular character?
I cosplayed Squall, the main character of Final Fantasy VIII. My hair was about his length at the time and the same color, so I felt the cosplay itself would turn out quite nicely
Tell me about the process of making your outfit
Haha I actually had someone commissioned to make my costume. Juggling school and a job didn’t leave me much time to make one myself. However, my girlfriend who I was photographed with did make her own.
Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con?
People seemed to like it, although I saw many more people with better versions of the character. I was a little upset at the Kingdom Hearts fangirls who kept calling me “leon” haha.
How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested?
This was my first con and also my first cosplay. My roomate had been to Otakon before and it sounded fun. I decided if I was going I would go all out in costume.
What at the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why?
The dealer’s room of course. I had to get my hands on some Otakon shwag. This was only my first con so I couldn’t fairly say it was my favorite, but it certainly won’t be my last
What does cosplay mean to you?
To me personally its simply fun. I used to be a skeptic until I tried it myself. Its like Halloween but more than once a year.
If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay?
A fully functional and full scale (26 lightyears tall) Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
