Tell me about the outfit you are wearing – who are you cosplaying and how did you decide to pick this particular character ?

I am dressed as Link, and this was originally a Halloween costume, but since Legend of Zelda (The game he is from) is the first real game I played through, I felt that it was appropriate that this was the first costume I wore to a con. It is also a work that is still in progress, and I usually just add a few more things each year.

Tell me about the process of making your outfit – was it easier or tougher than you imagine it to be ?

It was actually pretty easy, because it is a simple costume. However, I did originally have some problems finding a way to carry the sword on my back, and had some issues with my boots, but in the end I feel like they both turned out very nice.

Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con ? ^^

The funniest thing that happened would probably be when a group of girls ran up to me at a con and yelled, “Hey! Look! Listen!” (A quote from Ocarina of Time) extremely loud. Another story would be where a person dressed as Sheik ran up to me, bowed, and handed me an ocarina, then ran off.

How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested ?

As stated above, it started with a costume that I wore for Halloween, and branched out from there as I found other cool characters that were not too complicated, since cosplaying can be a very expensive hobby and I am on a tight budget, haha.

What are the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why ?

The first con that I attended was Fanime, 2008 I believe. Shortly after I went to Anime Expo in LA. Anime Expo is probably my favorite as of yet, just because there are so many people there from all over, and it is usually a major con, so there are very well known people, such as David Hater, or creators of popular games such as BlazBlue/Guilty Gear series, that come and talk about upcoming games.

What does cosplay mean to you ?

Cosplay to me is a way of expressing myself to people who enjoy the same things as I do, as well as a chance to meet new people, see things that aren’t very common elsewhere, (such as the amazing art in the Artist’s Alley) and generally just something that is a lot of fun to do with your friends.

If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay ?

I think that if I had an unlimited budget, my true dream cosplay would probably be a fully functioning Falcon Armor, from the Megaman X series, Zero’s suit from the same series, or Vile, again from the same series. Haseo’s Xth form or 3rd form from .hack//G.U. Volume 3 would also be very cool, as would be a full sized pilotable Gundam….but I’m not quite sure that would count, haha. These have always been my favorites, but I am sure there are some I am missing, and there are always new animes and video games being released, so there will always be more I will wish to do.
