Tell me about the outfit you are wearing – who are you cosplaying and how did you decide to pick this particular character ?
The character I am cosplaying is Sima Yi from Dynasty Warriors 6. I picked this character because I was always fond of Sima Yi from the video games series, “Dynasty Warriors” and he was also my favorite character in the book that the “Dynasty Warriors” series of games is based off of, “Romance of the Three Kingdoms.”
Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con ? ^^
Hmmm… Unfortunately, very few people knew who I was in this outfit. I’d say 80% of the people who stopped me to ask me about my costume thought I was Lo Pan from Big Trouble in Little China.
How did you get started cosplaying and what got you interested ?
Well, I’ve been playing video games all my life, and then around my early teenage years I started watching anime. So many character really interested me that I just had to emulate them. My first cosplay was one of Sephiroth. Of all the outfits I’ve done, that one is by far the most popular among my friends and con-goers. I’ve got Youtube videos to prove it.
What are the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why ?
First and favorite would be Fanime. I’ve been to ACen as well, but I know more people around Fanime, and I have made a lot of great friends there.
What does cosplay mean to you?
Cosplay to me is a way to relax, and a way to have some fun. I have to admit that I like being in the spotlight when my cosplay is recognized/loved, but friends coming together to just let loose and have a ball is the thing I love most.
If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay ?
Hmmm, probably Oda Nobunaga from Samurai Warriors 2. Another amazing character from history. I have Oda Nobunaga’s and Sima Yi’s names tattooed on my arms.
