Tell me about the outfit you are wearing – who are you cosplaying and how did you decide to pick this particular character ?
My character is an original Super Hero which I created to audition with for season two of “Who wants to be a Super Hero.” Being my character is a shape-shifter. part leopard / part human, the leopard print outfit just seem to be the purrfect choice! The utility belt holds her “Quiet as a Mouse” defense and the ever popular “Exploding Hairballs.” lol! The collar is what allows her to shift easily between her human and leopard form. And of course she needed Super Hero boots! lol. No cape however, as cat’s dont fly! lol
Tell me about the process of making your outfit – was it easier or tougher than you imagine it to be ?
Being I am all paws when it comes to sewing, lol, my outift is special ordered from Singapore. The accessories were all found seperately and the outfit just seem to come together on it’s own.
Any interesting stories from people’s reaction to your outfit at the con ? ^^
lol, lots of stories! One young girl asked “are you a cat?” to which I answered yes… I then asked her if she was a human.. she tipped her head a second and replied “No, I have a dress on!” lol!! Then there was the young girl who asked me about my Hero and after answering her I asked her what her Super Hero name was.. without missing a beat, she replied “I am Mysterious Girl!” When asked what her powers were, she replied “Being Mysterious!” lol! There was also the young girl who came up to me after I was awarded first place in the Dallas All-Con 2009 Super Hero Sunday… she wanted to show me that she had spent her dollar on a Tigra heroclix because she said she thought it looked like me! She melted my heart! I also have a group of young people who I see at almost every con I attend. Everytime they see me they yell out “Kitty!!!!” and I yell back “Humans!!!!” lol! I so love all the children and adults I have met these past two years and I can’t wait to make more friends at future cons!!
What are the con did you first attended and what’s your favorite con that you’ve attended so far and why ?
My first con was Wizard World in 2007. I got to meet Heroes from ‘Who wants to be a Super Hero” season one. I was so honored to meet Feedback, Fat Momma, Major Victory and Diamond Girl. Since that first con, I have attended A-Kon, All-Con, Anime Fest, APOTAC Swap Meets, Star Wars Fan Days and more, as well as the Grand Opening of When Nerds Collide Comics and More! My favorite con? That’s a hard question. Each con brings special moments to mind, there’s no way I could ever just pick one. I honestly love them all. You meet the friendliest people at them!
What does cosplay mean to you ?
For me, it means getting to portray my character amongst some of the most creative, talented and friendlist people ever! Some people don’t understand why we all cosplay but all they have to really do to understand it is to attend a convention. You will see some of the most amazing costumes there! And you will always feel welcome!
If you had unlimited funds/technology/time, what is your dream cosplay ?
Actually my dream is to go to San Diego Comic Con and meet Stan Lee (father of Super Heroes) in person! I would love to be able to tell him in person just how much he has changed my life and has inspired me to want to make a difference in other people’s lives.
